Fire!!!
Well we had a little fire so I thought I would show some before and after images..... It will be about 8 weeks to complete but here are some of the images that we took right after the mess.
I will update with the clean up process in a few days.
Our freezer, plates and some ex food storage.
Lots and lots of smoke damage.
The fire suppression system covered a bunch of stuff with foam but put out the fire.
Whats left of the prep area.

Almost There
Its been a while and Devin and I have been at it for at least 10 hrs a day. A lot is done and we are close now.
Here is the electrician putting up one of the exit signs in the kitchen
The new windows have come in thanks to Clear View Glass. We tried to put them in ourselves to save some money and ended up breaking the first one. During the process the dang thing fell out of the sill on my finger and crushed it against the brick.... To bad there is nothing to be done for a broken finger. Needless to say the Clear View guys will be installing the rest of the windows when the re-order comes back in on Friday.
The painter " Mr. Cotton" (303) 477-3825 did a bang up job on the ceiling and HVAC. He will be finishing up the side of the building tomorrow.
After a failed start on the stucco we got a new guy "Alberto" (e-mail me for the phone number if interested) that did a great job on re-surfacing the front of the building.

Dry Wall and the Front
A lot as been going on and a ton of work has happened. Our neighbor Bill cleaned all of the interior brick with acid and then coated everything with brick sealer, the drywall guys are almost done making our crappy drywall job look good and we finished prepping the front of the building for its face lift this weekend. Talk to you then.....
The crown has been knocked off and soon we will have a clean square and yellow store front (yes that is really a real front door now).
This is Carlos Garcia (AKA The Sultan of Drywall) he and his crew have worked wonders with the mess we made. Need some remodeling done? (303) 922-3955 or cell (720) 291-2004. They have been great, inexpensive and fast.

Crankin it out
Well it has been a nasty week. Devin and I have been going at the drywall non-stop. We were there one night till about 12 and got there one morning at 5 in order to get it up in time for the inspection.
The drywall is going up (well its up now, we passed the inspection :)
The Concrete-It guys did a great job on the new patio. It will all be one color when it is washed and cured.
A piece of the future breakfast bar and of course the drywall behind it.
The pad that the walk-in will sit on.

Yikes
Sorry it has been a little while but we have been going full steam night and day. Now that the roof is not in danger of coming down on our heads all of the contractors have been working in pairs all day every day.... and it shows.
Here is Devin working on the back bar ( the frame for the front is in the foreground). He was kind of losing his cool trying to get it up but it looks great now. Framing inspection is on Friday!!!
Here are the lights that the electric guys have hung up already.
This is the wonderful and perfect patch job I did on the old doorway that linked it to the bar ( I am thinking that it will match a little better when it is dry).
Here is one of the plumbers diving out of the frame. Behind him on the right is the office, in the extreme back are the restrooms and the left is the waitstation and kitchen walls.
Thats all for now... see you when the drywall starts going up (Sat?)

The Waiting Area Chairs
We found some cool old stadium style seats in the place when we rented it so we thought it would be reall cool if we coulf re-finish them and use them as seats for the waiting area, well it took 4 days to finsh.....
This is how we found them.
Hours and hours of sanding.... Those dang planks are oak!
Some sanded planks.
I then did a hammer coat spray on all of the iron work.
The finished product. I did a lite stain on the wood as well as a poly coat. I also re-numbered them as well so they match.

We Are Rolling Now
There are a bunch of things going on now. The electrical people are electrifying, the welders are welding, and the structural guys are structuring.
Here are the guys hauling the beams up to the roof... man that looks heavy.
Here is Devin putting together one of the walls in the back( Yes that is my cool new drill. He has only dropped it from 10 feet onto the cement floor twice so far. )
Here are some of the walls that we are starting to build.
One of the electical guys cutting some of the conduit to lay the lines in.
This is one of the guys bolting the posts into the floor.
Gonna be a while till there is news.....

The Welding Begins
A guy with green hair showed up today to start putting the plates on the steel beams that will hold the roof up.
Some of the beams with the new plates.Hauling the beam up onto the saw, errr welding, horses.
The big generator for the arc welder.
The setup for the welder. I don't think I would mess with this thing, 200 amps at 220 volt.
Welding away.
Grunt Work Today
Yuck.... nothing but grunt work all day today. In order to prepare for things to come (patio and the steel beams) Devin and I had to do some major grunt work today.
This in the former long time home of the bricks that had to be re-loacted about 12 feet away. Let me tell you, I don't know how long they were there but there were some freaky creepy crawly things at the bottom of that pile.
Here is the new home for the bricks . Nothing beats lugging snow and mud covered bricks all morning :)Some of the mess Devin is making inside.
Cutting away the roof beams can land some pretty nasty stuff in your eyes.
Done for the day....
